The absolute most important business directory is Google's own Google My Business. This business directory is free to all, whether you have a website or not, and lists your business in its verified location on Google Maps. Love New Zealand
Since June 2017, you can now also list your business for free on Love New Zealand. The Love New Zealand website is unique, in that it does not focus on just being a directory, it includes information, photos, radio stations and everything and anything else about New Zealand and is therefore highly ranked in searches for New Zealand. Just create an account and you can register as many free listings as you like.

Yelp NZ
Free to list, the Yelp directory is huge internationally with a site dedicated to just New Zealand. This site includes reviews, nearby businesses and cool features like having directions sent to your phone.
Summary
